Palm Bay High Mock Trial Team

Mock Trial is a program that allows High School students to participate in a simulated trial as prosecutors, defense attorneys and witnesses. Ms. Loris has coached the Palm Bay High School's Mock Trial Team for the past 5 years. She has coached them to victory at Brevard County level and accompanied them to Tallahassee for the statewide competition. Ms. Loris attended Palm Bay High and is proud now to give back to the community. By supporting Mock Trial, she is helping many teens have a positive first experience with the Justice System. Additionally, many of the students who pass through the program proceed on to Law School with a strong sense of direction and confidence.

In the near future, Ms. Loris will be teaching two classes at Palm Bay High School with Florida Supreme Court Justice Fred Lewis.

Brevard County Teen Court

Having seen first hand the problems that Juveniles can have with the law, Ms. Loris has assisted with Brevard County's Teen Court program. Teen Court is a program for first time non-violent juvenile offenders offered in Brevard and Seminole Counties. Trained teen volunteers fill all court roles such as jurors, bailiffs, attorneys, and court clerks. The judge is the only adult participant and is usually a prosecutor or other local private attorney. A jury of their peers sentences the defendants. Successful completion of the program will result in the charges against the youth being no-filed.
